A busy week

This was a busy few days. We celebrated Steven's 12th birthday! We can't believe he is already 12. He LOVED his cake and we had his favorite dinner of BBQ chicken, brocolli and garlic bread. Tomorrow we are heading to the water park for an afternoon of fun.

Last night, Megan had her first school dance. I volunteered as a parent chaperone and spent the evening handing out pizza at the concession stand. I was ordered "not to embarrass" her and was told I did good:) Megan looked beautiful all dressed up and it was such a pleasure to see her smiling face, interacting with her friends and enjoying the dance. I was equally pleased to meet other parents and realized just how clean cut the kids at her school are. It was so reassuring.

While we were at the dance, the boys stayed home and Troy finished packing for his trip. We just dropped him off at the airport and came home. He will be in Cape Town, South Africa for the next few weeks. The flight itself is a challenge....first he flies to Atlanta, then a direct, 16 hour flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. From there, he gets another flight to Cape Town. All in all, his travel time is 24 hours in a plane.

The house just doesn't feel right without him here. The weather is even cold and rainy. I think tonight we will just watch the movies we rented, snuggle on the couch and check Troy's flight status through the night.
