A New Job!

Recently, I was accepted into the Educational Diagnostician certificate program.  This program is similar to an educational psychologist in Arizona.

Today, I received the official offer of employment as a diagnostician for next school year.  I will still be employed by the Lewisville Independent School District, but my role as diagnostician will move me to a different school.  Diagnosticians are often shared between two campuses.  I won't know which campus(es) I am assigned to until this summer.

In the meantime, we are very excited at the new opportunity and challenges!

Good Luck Trifecta

The "Gypsy Curse" is part of our karma.  We aren't sure what we did in a past life to deserve the bad luck that tends to come our way, but somehow, we hid from it on Saturday!!!

A little history.....when we moved two weeks ago one of Troy's computer servers went missing.  By missing we mean we really had no idea where it was.  One minute it was sitting at the top of the stairs ready to move to the apartment.  The next minute no one--not even the movers--know where it is.  Losing this server is a big deal.  Troy uses it to connect to the Federal Drug Administration for work.  They frown upon their servers being missing.

We had speculated on the whereabouts for two weeks.  I was convinced the movers had liberated it.  Troy was watching for it to go on sale on Craigslist.  Neither of us were optimistic.

We are very fortunate to have great friends in the Ecton and Melton families.  I have no pictures to share but hope my words will do it justice.  They woke up early on a Saturday morning.  They drove 40 miles across town to our storage unit.  They helped us move and view insides of every single box in storage.  3/4 of the way through the hunt, we found the missing server!  And NAS and battery back up.  Oh, and we found the missing CD and DVD box.  But the most important thing was the server.  That was good luck #1.

After searching through storage, the Ectons and Meltons came over for chicken enchilada casserole and cherry pie.  It was the first time we've had a group over to the new place.  Having friends who are like family spend time in your house sure makes it feel like a home. A huge thank you to both families!

The second piece of good luck involved the alarm going off at the old house.  When Brinks calls, we tend to get nervous.  I went to the old house to see what the alarm was about.  Turns out the battery back had failed and just needed to be disconnected.  Good luck #2.

Our final good luck involved a little bit of unexpected time as a couple.  Megan went to her best friend's house----also named Megan by the way.  Our Megan is now "Meg" while Megan Kennedy is still "Megan".  Anyways, Meg was at Megan's house to watch movies.  She was planning to come home but they decided on a sleepover.  Troy and I used this unexpected time to go to our favorite joint Fuzzy's for a cocktail and chips and guacamole.  Good luck #3.

Saturday is one of those days that should go down in history as perfect!

Sleep is a glorious thing!

As many of you know, sleep has eluded me for several years.  My most productive hours of the day are usually 2am-7am.  But my world changed last night.

I fell asleep at 7pm.  Reading a book.  Without any pharmaceutical assistance.  No middle of the night wake ups.  I slept through the night all the way until 4:23am.

I am feeling the restorative benefits of sleep.

aaaah.

I think today will be a good day!

National Honor Society

Our daughter is soooo much smarter than us.  It's official.  We know that many of you have known her intelligence surpassed us years ago, but we just got the official confirmation today.

Megan has been selected as a new member of the National Honor Society.  This is a huge honor and we are so proud of her!  She will be inducted as a new member on April 11.

Megan's GPA is higher than Troy and I's combined high school GPA. The girl constantly amazes us!

Go Megster!!!  We love you!

Moving 2012

We survived the move!  It was rough starting with apartment not being ready last Friday as planned.  We didn't get to take possession until Saturday night at 7pm.  During the day on Saturday, they put in the new flooring and we had internet and cable installed.  It was fun watching the flooring contractors make a pathway for the Verizon guy to walk through.

The torrential downpour forecast for Sunday started early on Saturday.  The movers came on Sunday and did the big stuff in the morning (in the continuing downpour).  Our stuff fits nicely into the apartment and it is starting to feel like home now.  We've been so busy running back and forth to the old house, a quick trip for meetings in Abilene, and cleaning up the old place that we haven't had much time to putter around here.  Today is the first day that we have any time to do that.

One really nice thing is that we have met all our neighbors.  Our neighbors are all very friendly and have come over and introduced themselves.  It's a nice feeling to be welcomed like that.  At our old house, someone called the HOA on us and complained about moving trucks when we moved in.  So, this is definitely a new feeling!

I'll update later on the rest of life.
